ABOUT ME

Doug Rae

Certified Personal Trainer | Oakland, CA

My Story SO Far

My name is Doug and I’m a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer with over two decades of strength training experience. Born and raised in the Bay Area, fitness has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. It began at the age of 5 with my love for playing baseball, and later evolved into a lifestyle that helped me conquer personal challenges, both mental and physical.

Like many others, I struggled with back pain for years, aggravated by my own overexertion at the gym as well as long hours sitting at a desk and commuting in a car. Eventually, those patterns progressed from acute pain into incapacitating back spasms that occasionally left me bedridden. I tried a range of remedies including chiropractic treatments, passive stretching, natural supplements, and ineffective exercises, but none of them provided any improvement. At a certain point I had come to accept that I simply had a "bad back" and would have to live with it for the rest of my life. It wasn't until I sought the guidance of a personal trainer that I began to improve and eventually overcome my back issues. This was the point in which the seed was planted for me.

In 2022, I experienced a profound personal loss when my father passed away from heart failure at the age of 70. Watching his health decline over the span of a decade was very difficult and left me feeling powerless. This life changing experience prompted me to seek more meaning in life and make a transition from my work as a full-time professional filmmaker to personal trainer.

Today, my objective is to assist others on their health journeys’ and empower them to lead fulfilling lives through evidence-based fitness programs. I firmly believe in the mind-body connection and that everyone deserves to live a life filled with vitality, strength, and overall well-being. Whether you're looking to build muscle, improve flexibility, lose weight, or simply enhance your overall fitness level, I am here to support and guide you every step of the way. I am thrilled to join you on this transformative journey toward a healthier, happier you!
